My first introduction to the digital imaging world

Its amazing to think just how far the world of digital imaging has come in the last 15 years.

In March 2000, I bought my very first digital camera, the Fuji Finepix 4700 zoom. This was the bench mark at the time offering the following spec

The 2.4 Mpixel Fuji FinePix 4700 camera

16Mb SmartMedia card

Two rechargeable NiMH batteries

NiMH battery charger

Hand strap

USB cable

  • A/V cable
  • Software including Adobe PhotoDeluxe and drivers
  • Manuals for camera and software

I cant begin to imagine whats going to happen in next 15 years in terms of the digital imaging world.

What a diverse week

Its been one hectic week this week. From automotive shoots, to interiors and the Cling Film & Cream tattoo project too. Three 5am starts and a few miles clocked up along the way.

First up was Ben and his re engineered T4 custom Doka. There's some engineering work gone into that build. You might of seen it recently up at Camper Jam. It certainly attracted some attention. We set up a great early morning location for this one, the ex RAF Davidstow base on the other side of Camelford. Can't show you too much of Bens creation as its a pending VW Bus magazine feature. I don't want to spoil it for you.

Location: Camelford

After I got the Doka out of the way, it was off to meet up with Jay. He's the latest addition to the Cling Film and Cream project. An interesting story behind his tat's.

I continued along the tattoo theme with the Lovely Leigh. She's was next addition to the Cling Film and Cream project. I spent a few hours with her capturing some of her beautiful tattoos and listening to the stories behind her ink. Great model to work with, so relaxed and professional. Thank you Leigh.

Then I had Simon's Green T4 to shoot. You don't get any greener than this one! Yet again, I'm limited to what I can show you on this one as its penciled in for another one of the forthcoming VW Bus Magazine features. This one has a very different interior to all the rest Ive seen of late.

Finally, it was over to see Ben Williams. He needed some new imaging for the new web site I'm currently building for him, plus some other shots for his POS and print based material. He does build some epic stuff you know. Superb quality Ben.

Beautiful quality & great value

Look whats just arrived in the office. My new rebranded square business cards care of those lovely people at Moo.com. I opted for the Luxe card which is printed on a 32pt Mohawk super fine paper. They're a couple times thicker than your normal business card and feel really great. The other element of the design I love is the fact you can pick the colour of the seem of the card, ie the edge. Very sexy. Big thanks to the guys at Moo and to Mawgan at More White Space for the design. Cheers Man....

Onto the next project

Based on the previous success of my Volksfolk book, Im teaming up again with Mawgan at MoreWhitespace to produce and design a completely new publication focusing on those who choose to Tattoo themselves and their stories behind their ink.

The concept and idea behind "Cling Film and Cream" is to photograph and document individual's who ink their skin in order to perhaps displays their thoughts, dreams and memories. A visual ways of expressing themselves......

Real food, sunshine and sails

I take one of my cameras wherever I go, and this weekend was no exception. Saturday was spent round the back of the Mount fishing with a friend of mine. 76 Mackerel, 1 Pollock and a shot of this beautiful Cornish Lugger as she sailed past us. Back home later and 3kg of Blackcurrants bagged in the garden. Oh yes, and sunshine too. Its not all work you know.....
